I'm Rachel Bernier-Green, and while I spend most of my time as a fractional CFO helping purpose-driven businesses thrive, my heart has always belonged to the kitchen. Years ago, I founded 'Laine's Bake Shop, where I discovered the profound joy of nourishing community through baking. That chapter taught me that some of life's most meaningful work happens when flour meets water, when patience meets heat, and when something made by hand travels from our table to yours.
This micro-bakery represents a renaissance in the truest sense—a rebirth of what matters most. After years of spreadsheets and strategy sessions, I found myself longing to reconnect with the simple, elemental pleasure of baking. But this time, there's an even sweeter ingredient: my son, who has become my kitchen sidekick and partner in all things delicious. Together, we're learning that the best memories rise like dough—slowly, intentionally, and with a little mess along the way.
Chicago Renaissance Bakery operates on a pre-order, pop-up basis throughout the year. This allows us to bake with intention, honor the rhythms of the seasons, and maintain the quality that can only come from small batches and careful attention. We're still sourcing ingredients from some of my favorite local farmers—the ones who share our belief that good food starts with good soil and honest relationships.
Every pastry, loaf, and treat we create is an offering of joy from our family to yours. Because that's what this is really about: crafting moments of delight, one batch at a time.
